The Bond Company – Fazeley Street
A very unique canal-side venue, set amidst the industrial Victorian buildings of Digbeth, a short distance from Birmingham city centre.
Previously a Victorian Warehouse, a gas works, and an ice factory, The Bond, with exposed brick walls and vintage lighting has been described as industrial chic and is definitely on the quirky side. In fact this is the perfect wedding venue if you like something a little different! This urban location can host up to 120 ceremony guests with more allowed for the seated wedding breakfast or evening reception. The outdoor canopy provides an ideal area for an outdoor party, with street food or barbecue menus available.

Fazeley Studios – Digbeth
A contemporary renovation on the old 19th-century church located in the centre of Digbeth. Fazeley Studios with its high ceilings, massive chapel windows, and bright white walls, is an eye-catching setting. Civil Ceremonies take place in Studio 7 with a limit of 100 guests or the Garden Room for up to 130 guests. There is also the Grand Gallery which is a great place for the drinks reception, with lots of space and good comfortable seating. You need a minimum of 50 guests to qualify for the wedding packages.

The Old Library – Zellig Gibb St – Digbeth
A venue that was originally built in 1866 as one of Britain’s first free libraries, this still has the original windows and a gothic-type feel to it. Your wedding held at The Old Library will benefit from the abundance of natural daylight in the main room which has high vaulted ceilings and an airy feel.
Ceremonies here can accommodate up to 130 guests for the evening reception. There are also two options for your drinks reception while the main room is transformed for the wedding breakfast. These are located in the Zellig Building or Custard Factory, just opposite the Old Library.

The Birmingham Botanical Gardens
The Garden Suite is great for large weddings with the ability to accommodate up to 350 for a civil ceremony and up to 500 guests in the evening. It also has its own private bar lounge. The Loudon Suite is good for smaller ceremonies, able to hold up to 60 guests. A drinks reception can be held in the nearby Conservatory overlooking the Japanese Gardens. Finally, the Terrace Suite which is close to the display of Cacti and plants in an Arid climate. This can hold up to 180 wedding guests, with its domed ceiling and sprung dance floor. The Ibis Hagley Road, with its stylish and contemporary interior, offers a modern option for weddings in Birmingham. A combination of the old and the new. The Edgbaston Park Hotel is a 1920s redbrick, Grade II listed building, wonderfully restored with landscaped gardens and up to six deluxe rooms for the bridal party to stay in. An old family home, Hornton Grange is also licensed for ceremonies of up to 100 guests. These are held in a sky-lit extension with a private bar.
The modern option would be the Fry Suite, a good space for up to 180 ceremony guests. This is also fully licensed with a dancefloor and space for up to 450 guests.
Catering here includes Asian, African, and Caribbean cuisine.

The Old Rose and Crown Hotel

A grade 1, 17th century mansion set within 50 acres of parkland in Aston Birmingham. Sir Thomas Holte built Aston Hall, in the 17th century and it has the lovely Lady Holte’s sculptured gardens that really come alive in the spring/summer.
Civil Ceremonies take place in the Great Hall with its oak wall paneling and grand fireplace – it gives a real Jacobean feel throughout. The Banqueting Suite can be used for the Wedding Breakfast with up to 70 guests, or the event space in the adjoining Stables. For an outdoor feel, a marquee can be set up in the North Courtyard, this would allow up to 150 guests.
There are numerous opportunities for great images. The Long Gallery is inside the building, outside the Hall itself, in the courtyard with its circular garden. The Lady Holte’s Gardens though have to be the best location. There are so many different angles to shoot from and they all give a different feel to portraits or group setups.

Aston Villa Football Club
This place is a little special to me as it was the venue for our wedding reception! Aston Villa Football Club stood out to my wife and I, all those years ago due to the various options on offer and although I am not a Villa supporter, being able to go out on the terraces was an additional plus up! It’s changed over the years and now there are 5 licensed rooms for civil ceremonies and some great suites to accommodate weddings of various sizes. The Lower Grounds which used to the Holte Suite, can have up to 700 guests. The 82 Lounge and 82 Restaurant combine to form the 82 Club and can accommodate 350 guests. Additionally, the Lion’s Lounge can hold 100 and the Mcgregors 200.
Self-catering packages are allowed and Caribbean, Asian, and Greek cuisine. On-site parking for up to 1000 cars is also available.

The Main Hall is lavishly set out and looks out over the garden with a bridal room attached, good for pictures and a little privacy for the bride. The capacity for the Main Hall is 350 guests. Hall Two is on the first floor of the building and can be used as a spill over for another 250 guests. It is a self-catering venue, alcohol-free and halal meat only.

The New Hall Hotel and Spa
New Hall Hotel & Spa is an elegant 13th-century Manor house with a Lilly-filled moat offering a luxury wedding experience. Amidst stunning grounds, the architecture of this venue makes it perfect for couples looking for something really special.
The Great Chamber can be used to host the wedding ceremony with a capacity of 75 guests. Oak-panelled walls with a detailed painted ceiling and leaded windows, this really takes you back in time. There are alternatives, however. Perhaps you would prefer the outdoor walled Rose Garden which can fit up to 75 guests. For more intimate ceremonies the Sir Alfred Owen room is also available, allowing for up to 40 guests. The Moor Hall Hotel and Spa
The Moor Hall Hotel and Spa in Sutton Coldfield is a stunning wedding venue in the style of an old four-star country house from the 1500s. The Drawing Room can hold up to 60 guests for the ceremony and up to 86 for a drink’s reception. Up to 60 can be held in the Great Hall which is essentially a restaurant. The Malt House is the largest room, opening out to the gardens with the largest capacity within the hotel – 120 guests and up to 150 for the reception. An amazing barn set in its own private courtyard, able to seat 140 guests with a total capacity of 200. Just 20 minutes from Birmingham city centre, Shustoke Farm Barn is well-located and easy to access by car. This 18th-century Redbrick barn is well-known and much loved as a rustic wedding venue. Exposed oak beams and flagstone floors contribute to that feel. The open kitchen allows guests to observe the food being prepared and this continues with an outdoor barbecue in the courtyard, later in the evening. St John’s Hotel Solihull
Catering for up to 650 guests, the St Johns Hotel in Solihull is ideal for large Asian weddings and those looking for a full wedding experience. The Victorian-styled hotel has over 201 ensuite rooms and a modern health club. The Park Suite with its own entrance, bar and reception area even has its own room for a drink reception. The Island located across a kissing bridge and the Lake House are good for outdoor civil ceremonies – the latter being better for small intimate weddings. There is also a secret clearing in the woods where tables can be set up for a wedding breakfast, amidst the trees and ferns.
The Garden Suite is a great option for an indoor reception for up to 250 guests with a good patio outdoor space that is well-lit and comes alive at night. Fireworks are permitted and a marquee too. The lawns outside the Garden Suite are calming and provide a great backdrop for groups and an assortment of areas for couples.

If I hire a venue for my reception only, where would I take my photographs?
The city does have numerous picturesque locations for wedding photography, including scenic parks like Sutton Park, Botanical Gardens, Handsworth Park, Aston Hall, Lightwoods Park, and more. There are also many urban alternatives like the streets of Digbeth with its street art, the canals around the Mailbox and some of the city’s Iconic landmarks.
Can I bring my Dog?
A few venues allow you to bring your best-four-legged friend. Fazeley Studios, The Bond Company, The Old Library, New Hall and Shustoke Farm Barn are a few. However, it is best to check with each venue for specific pet policies and arrangements to ensure a smooth experience for you and your furry guest.
