The Job Seekers “Hope” – Launch of the Suited for Success Bus
Suited for Success presented their big blue bus, named “Hope”, in the Bullring Birmingham on Wednesday October 25th 2023. The bus donated by National Express West Midlands will be key to job seekers, assisting and supporting them to get back into work. It will make its way across Birmingham which has some of the highest levels of unemployment in the UK.
How will “Hope” help?
Suited for Success provides a great service to job seekers by helping them with interview clothing, interview techniques and coaching. They are based in Ladywood Birmingham and are supported by an array of business partners and donors for clothing, makeup and more. The centre supports men and women from a variety of backgrounds. They specialise in overcoming barriers for back-to-work parents or those with long-term unemployment, the homeless and ex-offenders.
I have seen first-hand the impact of ones being fitted and gifted with interview clothing, and the subsequent confidence this gives them. I have also been told of people who have been moved to tears on seeing themselves in a three-piece suit or a quarter-length coat for the first time! Previous clients I’ve spoken to have conveyed how grateful they are for the support they received at a time when they needed it.
The bus “Hope” has been converted into a mini pop-up version of the Suited for Success Ladywood centre. It has been equipped with a dressing boutique on the upper deck and interview/employment preparation and coaching booths downstairs. The aim is to support more job seekers in their local communities.
The Job Seeker’s launch of “Hope”
As part of the launch week for Hope, October 25th was the first employment day at the Bullring, by St Martins church. Job seekers were supported with CV writing, interview skills coaching, job applications and a free interview outfit.
